PANAJI: Goa is expected to witness a sharp increase in rainfall activity over the next four days as pre-monsoon conditions strengthen across the region, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The weather department has forecast spells of heavy to very heavy rain in Goa, while neighbouring states such as Kerala and Karnataka are also likely to receive intense showers during the same period.
The IMD has further warned that thunderstorms and lightning may accompany the rainfall. Authorities have advised people to remain cautious as persistent downpours could trigger waterlogging in vulnerable areas, affect visibility on roads and create temporary disruptions in low-lying localities.
Several other parts of the country, including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Lakshadweep, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, are also expected to receive light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorm activity in the coming days.
Goa has already been experiencing scattered pre-monsoon showers over the past few days, with moderate rainfall reported in isolated pockets. Keeping the evolving weather situation in mind, the Goa IMD has issued
