COLVALE: Colvale Police have registered a hit-and-run case after an unidentified four-wheeler allegedly knocked down a 78-year-old scooter rider near Amyani Madel, Thivim.
The case, Crime No. 70/2026, was registered on September 3, 2026, at around 3.18 pm under Sections 281 and 125(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, along with Sections 134(a) and 134(b) of the Motor Vehicles Act.
According to the complaint filed by HC Mahadev Parab (B. No. 4685) of Colvale Police Station on behalf of the State, the accident occurred on September 1 at around 11.20 am near Amyani Madel, Thivim.
Police said the unknown driver of a four-wheeler was proceeding from Madel, Thivim, towards Mapusa when the vehicle was allegedly driven in a rash and negligent manner and collided with an Adams Electric scooter without a registration number, which was travelling in the same direction.
The scooter rider, Victor Rosario Dsouza, 78, of Madel, Thivim, sustained serious bodily injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at GMC Bambolim.
Following the accident, the unidentified driver allegedly fled the spot along with the vehicle without providing medical assistance to the injured person or informing the police.
