COLVA: Colva Police have registered a case against two persons for allegedly organising and/or facilitating an illegal bullfight, locally known as “Dhireo,” at Grande Pulvaddo, Benaulim, on August 9.
The incident was reported at around 3 p.m., with police alleging that bulls were made to fight each other for public entertainment, resulting in cruelty and suffering to the animals.
The accused have been identified as Manuel Jesus Vaz alias Manu, a resident of Sinqetim, Navelim, and Minguel, a resident of Acona, Benaulim.
Colva Police have registered Crime No. 67/2026 under Sections 11(1)(m) and 11(1)(n) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.
The case relates to allegations of causing unnecessary pain and suffering to animals by engaging them in a fight for entertainment.
