PANAJI: Surprisingly, Andrew Pereira, the Assistant Depot Manager at Kadamba Transport Corporation, has been suspended in relation to an illicit liquor transportation case that surfaced on Friday.
KTC had started an internal investigation into the situation, and as it moves forward, more information should become available.
The event started two days ago when the Hyderabad-bound bus, which was leaving Goa, was stopped at the Kamkole toll plaza by the Medak division responsible for Prohibition & Excise Enforcement.
During a routine vehicle check, the authorities detained the driver, Ulhas Shridhar (52), and his assistant, Abasaheb (51), and seized seventy-seven bottles of alcohol.
The enforcement division’s prompt action demonstrates their dedication to stopping illicit activities associated with the sale and transportation of illegal substances.
To determine the extent of the involvement and identify any possible accomplices in the illicit liquor transportation network, authorities are currently conducting a comprehensive investigation.
The public has been reassured by Kadamba Transport Corporation that the company is cooperating with the ongoing investigation and that it is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of integrity among its employees.
Andrew Pereira, the assistant depot manager, has been suspended as part of the company’s efforts to address any non-compliance and guarantee accountability.
