PANAJI: Acting on inputs from local fishing communities, coastal police launched a late-night crackdown on illegal fishing activities in the Mandovi river, seizing six traditional coracle boats.
The operation was carried out at approximately 2:30 AM, during which authorities also recovered fishing nets, LED torches, and the fish caught by those involved. According to police, the individuals operating the boats are believed to be from Karnataka and were found fishing during prohibited hours.
Officials confirmed that further legal proceedings and investigation are currently underway.
