New Delhi:
In a significant effort to alleviate exam stress and promote a balanced approach to learning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with school students on February 10, 2025, as part of the 8th edition of ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’. This annual initiative, which has evolved into a nationwide movement or ‘Jan Andolan’, saw PM Modi engage with 36 students at Delhi’s Sunder Nursery, deviating from the traditional town hall format.
The event, held at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, marked a milestone with over 5 crore participants, including students, teachers, and parents from across the country. Renowned personalities such as Deepika Padukone, Sadhguru, and Mary Kom joined PM Modi to share valuable insights on holistic development and stress management.
The 8th edition of ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ was designed to address the pervasive issue of exam stress and offer practical guidance to students, teachers, and parents. PM Modi’s interaction with the 36 selected students focused on the importance of avoiding pressure and maintaining a balanced approach to studies. He emphasized that students should not be confined to academics alone but should also have the freedom to explore their passions.
PM Modi shared personal anecdotes from his school days, highlighting the efforts of his teachers to improve his handwriting, and stressed that exams should not be the sole focus of a student’s life. “One should not live with the idea that exams are everything,” he said, adding, “We cannot live like robots, we are humans.”
This year’s ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ garnered over three crore registrations, underscoring its growing popularity. The Ministry of Education described the initiative as a “popular program” that has transformed into a ‘Jan Andolan’, resonating deeply with students, teachers, and parents across India.
To enhance the event’s impact, a series of engaging activities were conducted from January 12 to January 23 at the school level. These activities, which included indigenous games, short-distance marathons, creative meme competitions, Nukkad Natak performances, and poster-making, involved 1.42 crore students, 12.81 lakh teachers, and 2.94 lakh schools. Students were also encouraged to participate in student-led discussions, share their experiences through testimonials, and engage in yoga and meditation sessions to cultivate relaxation and mindfulness.
The 2025 edition of ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ featured seven insightful episodes, each addressing different aspects of exam preparation and student well-being. These episodes included discussions with industry experts and renowned personalities on topics such as sports, mental health, nutrition, technology in education, and financial literacy.
The event hosted 2,500 selected students who received educational materials from the Ministry of Education. Additionally, the top 10 ‘Legendary Exam Warriors’ were granted a special visit to the Prime Minister’s residence. The diverse participation of students from various government institutions, including Kendriya Vidyalayas, Sainik Schools, Eklavya Model Residential Schools, and Navodaya Vidyalayas, highlighted the government’s commitment to inclusive education.
