CHICALIM: A Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) bus rammed into a house along the Chicalim road. Fortunately, no injuries or loss of life were reported in the incident, but the house sustained partial damage.
According to the bus driver, the accident occurred while trying to avoid a collision with a two-wheeler. “A school bus was moving ahead, and behind it was a two-wheeler that suddenly came in front of me. I applied brakes but had no space to maneuver. To save the two-wheeler, I veered to the side, causing the bus to hit the house,” the driver explained. He further stated that KTC officials were informed and that a formal accident report would be filed with the police.
A resident of the house recounted the moment of impact. “I was inside the house, talking on the phone when I suddenly heard a loud crash. When I rushed outside, I saw that a part of our house had collapsed. Luckily, no one was injured,” she said.
Expressing her concerns, she added, “The driver says he is not at fault, but buses should be driven cautiously on roads where houses are so close. He claims he was trying to save a two-wheeler, but in the process, our house was damaged. We have asked them not to remove the bus until a settlement is reached. Either we should be compensated, or the house should be repaired.”
