PANAJI: Minister of State for Rural Development Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani on Friday informed the Rajya Sabha that the Goa-related land records, which are fully digitised, pertain to 425 Goan villages, with a total of 7,89,875 RoRs (Record of Rights) being computerised.
He also informed that the entire 100 per cent land records computerisation work for all these villages has been completed.
Pemmasani, replying to a question from the Goa Rajya Sabha member Sadanand Shet Tanavade said, “The objective of the programme is to develop a modern, comprehensive and transparent land record management system which will inter alia, improve real-time information on land; reduce land disputes; check fraudulent/ benami transactions; obviate need of physical visits to revenue/ registration offices; and enable sharing of information with various organisations/ agencies.”
According to the Constitution’s 7th Schedule, land and land revenue, including the upkeep of land records, are state subjects. State-specific laws, rules, and regulations control land revenue.
“Under the name of the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP), the Government of India has been implementing a comprehensive program for the computerization of land records and the registration process in the country with 100% financial assistance from Central government since 2016-17,” he stated.
The response went on to say that every State and Union Territory had adopted this scheme.
The DILRMP is a digital program that integrates land information and management systems to empower and benefit all Indian residents, including marginalized communities, according to the Union Minister.
