MARGAO: “Let us celebrate his Centenary by putting into practice ‘Konkani Uloi, Konkani Boroi, Konkanitlyan Sarkar Choloi’. CM ani BJP Sarkar Jayaat Jaage,Goemche Mhaze Goemkarano Jayat Jage”, stated Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao while remembering renowned Konkani Poet Manoharrai Sardessai on his 100th Birth Day.
Manoharrai Sardessai was born on 18th January 1925. As the Birth Centenary Year of Sahitya Akademi Award winning Great Goan Poet begins today, Goa Government must celebrate the year by implementation of Official Language Act in Letter and Spirit, said Yuri Alemao.
“I hope BJP Government will have some funds to commemorate the Centenary of Great Goan Manoharrai Sardessai. I appeal to Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant to organise such programmes which will help to educate the young generation about his immense contribution to Goa and Literature,” said Yuri Alemao.
It is unfortunate that BJP Government with its obsession for events is forgetting Great Goans. Today, Goa Government should have organised an Official Function to celebrate this acclaimed poet, stated Yuri Alemao.
“I also appeal to the Department of Art and Culture to compile data and prepare a Directory of all the Great Goans who have contributed in the Field of Art, Culture and Literature with important dates of each ones lifetime,” Yuri Alemao said.
We need to get inspired from every word of his poem “Goemkarano Jayat Jaage”. Identity of Goa is once again in danger with the BJP Government trying to destroy naturally beautiful Goa with its anti-people policies. Goans should rise to Save Goa, appealed Yuri Alemao.
