PANAJI: Agacaim Police have registered a cheating case against a Mandur resident for allegedly duping a woman of ₹7 lakh by falsely claiming ownership of a property and failing to complete the sale.
According to police, the complaint was filed by Vinanti Shirodkar (48), a resident of Palem, Siridao, who alleged that Sudesh Dhaku Madkaikar, a resident of Dhaktem Bhat, Dongrim, Mandur, induced her to purchase a property bearing Survey Nos. 60/0 and 61/1 at Gancim, Mandur, Tiswadi.
Police said the accused allegedly represented himself as the lawful owner of the property and accepted an advance payment of ₹7 lakh from the complainant on April 7, 2022.
However, despite receiving the money, the accused allegedly failed to execute the sale deed in favour of the complainant and also did not refund the amount, thereby cheating her.
Based on the complaint, Agacaim Police registered an offence on July 1, 2026, and launched an investigation into the case.
