PANAJI: Margao Marauders emerged as champions of the third edition of the Goa Women’s 3×3 Basketball League, capping off an exciting tournament that highlighted the rapid growth of women’s basketball in the state. The competition concluded at the Youth Hostel in Miramar after several days of intense action featuring 14 teams divided across two pools.
The tournament followed a competitive format, with the top four teams from each pool advancing to the knockout rounds. Margao Marauders delivered a consistent and commanding performance throughout the event to secure the championship title and claim the top cash prize of ₹30,000. Taleigao Tigers finished as runners up after an impressive campaign and earned ₹20,000, while Fatorda Flyers claimed third place along with a prize of ₹10,000.
Individual brilliance also stood out during the tournament, with several players receiving recognition for their performances. Priyanka was named the Most Valuable Player for her all round impact on the court and received a cash award of ₹10,000. Sarah Hussain earned the Finals MVP honour after playing a crucial role in the title clash.
Among the standout performers, Manasavi finished as the tournament’s highest scorer with an impressive tally of 65 points. Her scoring run included 18 successful three pointers, making her one of the most exciting players of the competition. She was rewarded with a cash prize of ₹5,000 for topping the scoring charts.
Komal was recognised as the Most Promising Player for her emerging talent and strong performances during the league. Smita added to the excitement by winning the free throw shootout competition and received ₹1,500 for her effort.
The awards were presented by Aman Kumar, Senior Pilates and Wellness Professional at Kaizen Wellness Space. Organisers thanked participating teams, sponsors, and supporters for contributing to another successful edition and reiterated their commitment to strengthening women’s basketball across Goa.
