PANAJI: Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte today charged at media for giving unwanted publicity to Sunbun music festival on daily basis.
“Why is media giving unwanted publicity to Sunburn, it is just one event for us. Why is media hyping up this issue,” said Khaunte.
Khaunte said that the music festival organizers and others planning to host their events in Goa during the last part of the next year can seek permission in January or February itself.
The decision will make way for many event organizers to apply in advance and plan their event, rather than waiting at the last minute.
“Will ensure that everything said by High Court is complied, We have not given them permissions for December 31,” he added.
“We have given provisional approval to organise Sunburn from December 28 to 30. They should stop taking us for granted. They should not expect that we will dance to their tunes,” Khaunte said, adding Sunburn will be held only for three days.
Khaunte said that organisers had sought permission from 4 p.m. till midnight, but the committee has granted the time from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. He said that the issues have been also discussed with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
He said that the crackdown on illegal touts will continue across the state particularly in the coastal belt, and added that if the illegal touts are cleared, a lot of nefarious activities like dance bars and prostitution will end.
We want tourism to flourish, tourists are welcome to Goa, but they should act responsibly, the minister said.
