PANAJI: As a culminating event of the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” campaign celebrating 75 years of India’s Independence, a campaign named “Meri Maati, Mera Desh” will be launched across Goa on August 09. As part of the campaign, which involves paying tributes to the ‘Veers’ who have made the supreme sacrifice for the country, several programs will be conducted at the gram panchayat level, block-level, and district-level from August 9 to 25. The campaign will culminate with a program to be held in Delhi from 27th to 30th August.
The core essence of the “Meri Maati, Mera Desh” campaign resonates deeply with our shared gratitude and reverence towards these selfless individuals who have safeguarded our nation’s freedom. In Goa, the events will be organised under the supervision of the Directorate of Panchayats.
As part of the campaign, soil will be collected from every village panchayat in the state, symbolizing the country’s unity and connection to the land. The soil collected from each panchayat will be handed over to the 14 block-level offices. Following a state-level function in Panaji between 20th and 25th August, 14 young volunteers of Nehru Yuva Kendra will take the soil to Delhi as part of the national-level program. The soil similarly collected from across the country will be used to build a unique garden called “Amrit Vatika” in the national capital.
As part of the campaign, other programs such as felicitation of freedom fighters, national flag hoisting, and pledge taking will also take place across the country. At every village panchayat, a memorial (Shilaphalakam) will be installed to express gratitude to the local heroes who have sacrificed their lives for the service of the country. Furthermore, every village Panchayat, demonstrating its commitment to sustainability, will also take part in planting 75 tree saplings, a testament to our resolve for a greener and healthier environment.
All the departments such as education, police, civil supply, forest and others will be involved in the campaign.
To celebrate the 75 years of India’s Independence, government of India launched the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” campaign on 12th March 2021 with a march from Sabarmati to Dandi. in this over two-year journey, the campaign has received massive public participation. More than 1.9 lakh events have been organised as part of the AKAM campaign. The “Meri Maati, Mera Desh” campaign is envisaged as a culminating event of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”.
