PANAJI: Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte today has condemned work of influencers defaming Goa on various social media platforms.
Khaunte was speaking to media on the sidelines of an event at Porvorim.
“I condemn influencers for defaming Goa on social media. Such people should be booked and action will be taken,” said Khaunte.
He further said that every tourism destination has its own challenges and we are always looking what best we can do to tackle these issues.
Khaunte further said that beach vigil app will be launched by next week and locals will be able to use this app for any grievances and complains.
“If no action is taken by police, even after getting complaints, then action will be taken on police,” he added
The minister said that illegal touting will be stopped on war footing.
He said that he has been very vocal against illegal touts and Police have to do their job rightly, only then these things will be reduced.
“Otherwise tourism will face a brunt this season also, because of illegal touts and other illegal activities,” Khaunte said.
Illegal activities spoil Goa’s name. Be it dance bars, prostitution, drugs or other things, these things should be cleansed along with touts. Last year we had taken action against touts,” he said.
Khaunte said that his department has requested to increase police force in beach areas so they can act and ensure that illegal touts menace is cleared.
During last tourism season, Khaunte had directed the officials to take action against the touts to give a safe environment to tourists visiting the state, and later action against touts was taken.
