ALDONA: Young people are being urged to pursue farming by Aldona MLA Carlos Ferreira, who has emphasized the need to safeguard the State’s rural economy and fields.
Ferreira added that prompt assistance to farmers should be provided so they can concentrate on producing the proper kind of output necessary to make the State self-sufficient.
There are numerous fields here that farmers can use for cultivation. The locals can then sell their produce, giving them the opportunity to work for themselves. In the event that the fields are destroyed, Goa’s rural economy will collapse. Ferreira urged the young people, particularly the students, to get dirty and start farming.
Farmers ought to receive help. Agriculture will cease if our fields are destroyed, and we will have to import foodgrains from outside the State. When someone becomes reliant on a certain good, prices spike. A market monopoly exists. This ought not to occur,” he continued.
The Aldona MLA was speaking to a crowd as he officially started work on enhancing the nullah at Panarim, Aldona.
There were also representatives from the Water Resources Department (WRD) and the Aldona panchayat ward members.
According to Ferreira, the task involves reestablishing the water channel’s flow because the water used to overflow and flood the fields.
