PORVORIM: The Goa Forward Party today has suspected that the state governments intention to hold year long celebration to mark 60th Goa Liberation Day much in advance.
Questioning the intention, Sardesai charged that the move is basically to divert Rs 100 crore, sought from center to hold celebration, into BJP state treasury ahead of 2022 elections.
He further alleged that the money would be rooted to fund party’s election campaign.
Speaking on the casino issue, Sardesai informed that the state government has not placed any regulatory body to regulate the casinos as they can claim money from the casino lobby.
“The casinos are here to stay in Goa it has become a party of the states economy,” he said
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had announced President Kovind would attend the Goa Liberation Day function on December 19, which will mark the beginning of the year-long celebrations to commemorate the diamond jubilee of the Liberation Day.
The BJP government in the state already announced various programmes from December 19, 2020 to December 19, 2021. It had requested Rs 100 crore from the Centre.
