DHARBANDORA: Ponda Police have registered a case against a motorcyclist for allegedly causing a fatal accident through rash and negligent driving near Chaitanya Petrol Pump, Dharbandora.
According to a state complaint filed by Assistant Sub-Inspector Rohidas Bhomkar of Ponda Police Station, the incident occurred on June 14, 2026, before 9:20 a.m., when Nikhil Naik, a resident of Dongrim, Tiswadi, was riding an X Pulse motorcycle from Ponda towards Mollem.
Police said that upon reaching near Chaitanya Petrol Pump at Dharbandora, the accused allegedly rode the motorcycle in a rash and negligent manner, endangering human life, and collided with an oncoming Activa scooter ridden by Vijay Chavan, a resident of Pilliem, Dharbandora.
The impact left both riders injured, and they were shifted to PHC Pilliem, Dharbandora, by a 108 ambulance for treatment. However, Vijay Chavan later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
Ponda Police have registered a case, and further investigation is being carried out by PSI Ashish Velip.
