VASCO: AAP’s National Youth Vice president Siddesh Bhagat has said that the change in nomenclature of Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) to Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) is nothing but a plan to finish the Rights of the state.
“The Union government has constituted a new board of major port authority for Mormugao port, a move that would rename is from the classic MPT to MPA (Authority) and make local laws redundant within its jurisdiction. The changes are part of the Major Port Authorities Act, 2021, which replaces the Major Port Trusts Act,1963,” he said.
Bhagat further says that this Act will ultimately lead to the destruction of Goan delightful beaches and its natural beauty.
Along with beauty, the livelihood of our Goans will be at threat, especially our fishermen community, shack owners etc.
“Imagine out of 65 miles of coastline 50% will be encroached by MPA where State and Local laws would be lost completely. Aside from the loss of the rights, there will be major economic loss State of Goa,” he says. Bhagat says now the central government is looking at our beautiful state of Goa as a commercial hub.
“BJP is in full swing to sell Goa to the capitalist for their personal greed. This MPA has nothing to benefit the state and stakeholders but this Coal and other companies that have nothing to do with our emotions and sentiments towards our state,” he said.
He added that the Central government engine in association with the State Government engine, i.e Double Engine government, has done nothing but destroy the peace and harmony of our state of Goa and Goans.
“This Double Engine Government is in full mood to sell our state of Goa to this crony Capitalist for their personal benefits. The Union government needs to rethink this Act and leave it how it was. It’s a wake-up call before our Goan beauty gets whitewashed for us Goans,” he said.
