COLVALE: Colvale Police have registered a cheating case against the CEO of a Mumbai-based company after a Goa businessman alleged that he was duped of ₹4.82 lakh on the promise of setting up a “Mr. Idli” food franchise at Mall de Goa.
According to police, the complaint was lodged by Nandkishore Jalan, proprietor of M/s Pushpa Enterprises, based at Madel, Thivim, Bardez.
The complainant alleged that Ketan Dave, CEO of CNERG Foods Limited, induced him to invest in establishing a “Mr. Idli” outlet at Mall de Goa, Porvorim. As part of the proposed franchise arrangement, Jalan allegedly transferred ₹4,82,419 to the accused’s personal HDFC Bank account towards the purchase of kitchen equipment and packing machinery required for the outlet.
However, police said the accused allegedly neither commenced the franchise operations nor supplied the promised kitchen equipment and other materials despite receiving the payment.
Claiming that he was cheated of ₹4,82,419, the complainant approached Colvale Police, who registered an offence under Section 318 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 on July 1, 2026.
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Prakash Ghadi of Colvale Police Station.
