PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that those defaming the State government would be punished.
The statement comes against an alleged letter written to the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister in the name of two Goa-based businessmen accusing the CM of extorting money.
The businessman- Nandan Kudchadkar and Sahil Adwalpalkar, have filed an official complaint with the police stating that their surname has been used as a signatory to the letter defaming the Chief Minister.
“The fake letter to the PM attempts to defame the government. Those involved in forgery would definitely be punished. My government is completely clean,” said CM Sawant.
He further said that some people are trying to gain political mileage by doing such things, and I have instructed DGP to investigate this matter and take strict action.
CM said that he has also asked the DGP to investigate if those signatures are real or fake.
He said the police would investigate the extortion allegations, and if the two who have been named so far are involved, they will not be spared.
“My Governance is Clean, and we do not get involved in such criminal activities,” he said.
Both Nandan and Sahil said that it came to their notice that a fake letter was sent through the number +84 334 367 121.
“Such malicious acts defame Goa, Goans, the Goa government and the Chief Minister. It is the need of the hour for the government. Governance and Club Owners show solidarity in protecting the interests of Goa, Goan and the Governance,” both Sahil and Nandan said.
Both also have condemned the fake letter and have asked the concerned authorities to register an FIR and do a thorough investigation of the origin of this.
