VASCO: Nationalist Congress Party(Goa) president Jose Philip Dsouza emphasised the importance of forming an grand alliance to defeat the BJP in Goa during the upcoming election.
During a press briefing, Dsouza said he has repeatedly been pointing out that the alliance of like-minded political parties needs to oust BJP.
He revealed that recently he met Congress party leader and discussed forming an alliance with the Congress party. He also mentioned that people want an able alternative, so forming an alliance with a like-minded party will give a better outcome.
“Likeminded regional parties like Goa Forward party, MGP etc should be a part of the alliance as there are chances that if they field their candidates, it might split the secular,r votes,” he stated.
Later, when asked about himself, Dsouza said that he would contest from the Dabolim constituency as he has got his voters, who are eagerly waiting for Dsouza to contest.
“Recently, we had a corner meeting in a few places from Dabolim constituency, and the response was overwhelming,” he said.
Yesterday, he had said that the alliance with Congress has been finalised, and only seat sharing is being discussed.
“We are demanding 7-8 eats as we already have candidates in that constituencies, who have started work,” he said.
