PStrengthening Goa’s commitment to efficient and citizen-focused governance, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant inaugurated the new premises of the Directorate of Transport at Porvorim today. The modern facility reflects the Government’s continued focus on building citizen-centric infrastructure and enhancing accessibility to essential services.
Designed to support faster operations and seamless public interaction, the new Directorate building is expected to streamline processes and improve efficiency within the Transport Department. With a strong push towards digital governance, a majority of services are now available online, making them more accessible, transparent, and time-efficient for citizens.
Speaking at the inauguration, CM Dr. Pramod Sawant said that the new premises of the Directorate of Transport will strengthen citizen-centric and technology-driven services in Goa. He congratulated the team for delivering the modern facility and noted that, along with increased online services, it will enhance efficiency, transparency, and faster service delivery. He added that the infrastructure will support faster execution, better governance, and further the Government’s commitment to improving the ease of living for every Goan.
CM Dr. Sawant emphasized that the new office should ensure faster execution of all departmental works, with a clear focus on timely and efficient service delivery. Highlighting key initiatives, he spoke about the establishment of Automated Testing Centres, implementation of the Goa Road Safety Policy, and the introduction of vehicle scrapping initiatives. He also underlined the importance of fuel subsidies and driver refresher training programmes to strengthen road safety and support the transport sector.
The inauguration marks another important milestone in Goa’s journey towards modernizing governance infrastructure, aimed at delivering faster, more efficient, and citizen-focused services across the state. The event was attended by Minister Mauvin Godinho, Secretary Mahesh Kumar Shambhu (IFS), the Director of Transport, and other senior officials and dignitaries.
