CANACONA – The NH-66 highway road in Canacona is littered with waste-bags on the roadside between Char-rasta to Gulem.
According to sources, the bags containing light-weight wastes were dropped on the roadside by a pick-up Van plying towards Karwar to Margao direction.
While the vehicle slowed down, a person sitting in the carrier, picks up the freshly filled colourless plastic-bags with light–weight materials including thermacol and neatly placed them one-by-one on the road side at over an two kilomentre distance.
While most bags are seen safely placed on the right hand side of the road towards Margao, at some of the places the bags are kept on the leftside of the road. Over 30-35 such tied bags are seen placed beyond the tar section of the road.
With the vehicle reportedly plying towards Margao, the act is reportedly committed between 11.45 am to 12.45 pm on Tuesday morning, when the traffic is minimal.
People suspect that the dumped waste is part of decorations of an event in or around Canacona.
According to sources patronaged by Star hotels, Prime Resorts, Event-organizers are reportedly organizes Beach, Beachside and Open –Air Wedding Party’s of the Outstation clients and once the event is over discards the waste in similar manner or leaves the trash in some isolated places and forest areas.
