PONDA: Power Minister Sudin Dhavlikar said that his first dream is to make every Goans happy with his work to improve power supply, and thereafter he will see that no industries in Goa would shut down due to a shortage of power supply.
In fact, he said, he will take care that more industries come to Goa.
He admitted that there are power fluctuations in Goa, but then he likes to work on it and bring changes.
He said we need to understand why there are power breakdowns and fluctuations.
“Some of the reasons include increased load on transformer than the capacity due to increased consumption and increased population in some particular areas,” he said.
Dhavlikar said the Department would study and improve the power supply with the help of Finance Minister and CM Dr Pramod Sawant, and for that, tenders are already floated to install transformers of high capacity and that already Rs 50 Crore are reserved for installing new transformers with high capacity wherever they are required.
He said he is committed to increasing the revenue of the Power Department. He cited that ten years back when he became transport minister ten years ago, there was just revenue of Rs 73 crore, and when he left the Department, he managed to generate revenue of Rs 461 Crore.
He said two major power stations would be set up at Verna and Saligao. He said he would give justice to his Department and urged the consumers to give a letter to Electricity Department from each village if they were facing power problems and assured that Department would solve issues of all of them one by one.
He also promised that the power supply problems in Ponda Taluka would be solved in two months’ time.
Dhavlikar says Rs 50 crore is earmarked just for changing the transformer in areas with increased load.
