PANAJI: BJP State President Sadanand Tanavade has said that there is no uncertainty on jetties in Goa after the significant port authority bill is passed.
“There is no uncertainty on jetties in Goa after the significant port authority bill is passed; BJP Government will take the Goa fishing boat owners association, fishing community, and all other stakeholders into confidence,” said BJP State President Sadanand Tanavade
The GCZMA recommended removing port limits and sought non-depiction of structures in the final CZMP.
It has also asked for the removal of the buffer zone for mangroves in the khazan land, to permit development activities in the fishing wards and to include all the recommendations made by the State government in the final CZMP Notification 2011 for Goa, but all this was on vain when the NCZMA.
The State government had engaged the services of the Chennai-based National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management (NCSCM), a central agency in preparing the CZMP.
It may be recalled that the two public consultations held in both the districts on March 7 last year were marked by chaos and confusion, with the participants demanding village-level consultations to prepare the CZMP. The National Green Tribunal (NGT) later asked the Goa government to hold fresh consultations.
Condemning the act of NCZMA for rejecting the plea of deleting the port limits in the Goa Coastal Zone Management Plan, Congress charged that despite knowing that the port limits has the potential to usurp the powers of the state and local bodies, the BJP government failed to protect Goa.
