PANAJI: North Goa Collector Ankit Yadav, IAS, has directed officials to complete the identification and registration of all Bulk Waste Generators (BWGs) by August 5 as part of efforts to strengthen enforcement of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026.
The directive was issued during the second meeting of the Special Cell on Solid Waste Management, North Goa, convened to review compliance with the Supreme Court’s directions in Civil Appeal No. 6174/2023.
The meeting was attended by deputy collectors, block development officers (BDOs), representatives of panchayats, police, municipalities, the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) and the Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWMC).
Officials reviewed the progress of identifying and registering Bulk Waste Generators, fortnightly compliance reports and the grievance redressal mechanism.
The Collector also instructed taluka-level teams to carry out regular inspections, monitor compliance on the ground and initiate prompt action against violations to ensure effective implementation of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026.
