PANAJI: National Students Union of India (NSUI) has demanded to immediately terminate the contract of Goa university hostel mess alleging maggots have been found in food served to students.
NSUI incharge (Goa University) Rushab Phaldessai has written to the registrar of Goa University in this regard and has brought the incident to his notice. According to him since last many days maggots and insects are found in the mess food due to which many students complain about food poisoning and vomiting.
He has demanded to terminate contract of mess and issue fresh tender for the hostel mess.
Rushab Phaldessai has also asked to keep regular check on quality of food. “such incidents are happening because authorities failed to keep a check on quality and despite complaints from students they turned Nelson’s eye on the issue. This is unacceptable,” he said.
“Students are forced to take food from outside eateries, which is very costly and students cant afford it. I request authorities to take immediate step and arrange new contract of mess,” he said.
He has threatened to agitate if authorities fail to take their demand in consideration.
