PANAJI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) State President Amit Palekar today said that it is now time for the state government to take strict action on the controversial bungalow at Old Goa.
“It’s time for the government to take action on the controversial bungalow at Old Goa. This is the final warning to the state government,” said Palekar.
He further said that if the government doesn’t take action, we are ready to start the agitation again.
“CRZ and archaeological survey documents describe the land where the illegal structure has been built as orchard property,” he added.
He said that there was a requirement for permission from the panchayat and TCP to build the bungalow.
But what were the officials doing when they conducted an inspection? This implies all the concerned officials were involved in granting a permit to an illegal structure”, he said.
Palekar said that Old Goa has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and recognised by the Archaeological Survey of India.
“The church in Old Goa is an architectural masterpiece and attracts a large number of tourists. If such type of construction is encouraged, then it will set a precedent to continue illegalities,” he added.
