MAPUSA: Mapusa Police has arrested one person for riding rashly and hitting one minor child, and further fleeing from the spot.
SDPO Mapusa Jivba Dalvi informed that on 13.06.2023 at around 1 pm at Khadpawado, Cuchelim, Mapusa, Bardez, Goa, one rider of a scooter had dashed a pedestrian i.e a minor child, and further fleeing from the spot. The minor boy was shifted to the hospital and suffered grievous injuries.
SDPO Dalvi informed that based on the information, a team was formed and through CCTV footages and reliable information, the accused rider of the bike was traced as Rakesh Shridrai Patil, aged 21 years R/o Ganesh Nagar, Colvale, Bardez, Goa and originally from Belguem Karnataka.
The accused person was nabbed and further placed under arrest vide sections 279, 338 IPC and Sec 134 of the Motor Vehicle Act.
The scooter bearing reg no: GA-03-AL-8264 has also been seized by the police. The accused person is presently placed into custody at Mapusa Police Station.
Presently injured minor is safe and brought back home after treatment.
Further investigation is in progress under the supervision of SP North Nidhin Valsan, IPS and SDPO Mapusa Jivba Dalvi.
