AGASSAIM: Ashpak Kadur, a 28-year-old resident of New Vadem, Mormugao, was arrested by Agassaim police on January 18 for allegedly robbing Maria Piedade Candelina Fernandes, 72, in Neura Grande, Padribhat, of a gold chain valued at Rs 1.60 lakh.
The elderly citizen who filed the complaint described how the accused physically removed the 22-gram gold chain that was embellished with a pendant of a Holy Cross with the letter “GG” on it.
The valuable chain was taken from her neck by the accused, who then departed the scene.
After being apprehended in Taleigao, Ashpak Kadur has been detained by police for the past two days. The pilfered goods has been effectively located and retrieved.
Under the direction of Nidhin Valsan, SP North, and SDPO Sudesh Naik, the investigation is still underway.
