CM assures to ‘take action’ against online gambling apps

PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that Online gambling is banned in Goa and strict action will be taken if found.
LoP Yuri Alemao questioned Govt on increased rise of online gambling, online lottery, online casinos operations in the State through computer, electronic machines and mobile applications. Many youths career are at stake.
“Online gambling is banned in Goa & strict actions will be taken if found. We are tracking app link downloads through Cyber Cell. Govt will use strict enforcement to stop this activities,” said CM Sawant.
He further assured to take a review of the matter that is the ways they are operating the gambling online.
“We will crackdown on illegal online gambling apps, we wil track such apps and as of now 7 persons have been arrested. It is very difficult to trace online gambling as apps are downloaded from various websites and links.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant taking note of it, assured the house to take action on online gaming and gambling. “I will take action on it,” he said.
Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa said that cases of Online Gambling is rise in Quepem and many people specially youth are suffering. There are shops also in rural areas promoting gambling.
“We will submit evidence & request CM to take strict action,” said D’Costa.
Benaulim MLA Capt Venzy Viegas said that Goenkar is kabar and we are happy only saying Hello Goenkar? We are ready to submit evidences on Online Gambling and request Chief Minister to take action.
