The Panaji Municipal Market remained closed on Thursday protesting against the alleged controversial amended Municipality Ordinance, whose implementation is currently kept in abeyance by the government.
The City Mayor Uday Madkaikar, however, said that the amendment will not be applicable to the Panaji corporation, as it is governed as per CCP Act.
The market vendors and traders today extended their support to the shopkeepers and traders of municipal areas, who has been protesting against the amendments.
The merchants were of the view that the amendment, which is made applicable to Municipal areas, may soon take shape even for them.
