Highlighting the importance of maritime security and global commerce, PM Modi added that India expected the agreement to ensure freedom of navigation and trade, particularly through key shipping routes affected by the conflict.
“We look forward to deliberations on the remaining issues reaching a sustainable final agreement,” he said, underlining India’s support for continued dialogue and diplomacy. (The Times of India)
The Prime Minister’s remarks came after US and Iranian officials announced a preliminary agreement aimed at ending hostilities and reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial artery for global oil and gas shipments. US President Donald Trump confirmed the breakthrough on his Truth Social platform, declaring, “The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete.” The agreement is being seen as the most significant diplomatic breakthrough since the conflict erupted following joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran in February.
