New Delhi:
It has been a week since a blast rattled a CRPF school in Delhi’s Rohini but the case remains a mystery for investigation agencies who have examined about 50 individuals so far but have been unable to make a breakthrough.
According to sources, even technical assistance has failed to aid investigative agencies.
A senior Delhi Police official said neither has anyone been traced, nor is there any CCTV footage capturing the person who placed the bag at the blast site. Sources also informed News18 that no Khalistan angle has been found in the investigation so far.
While a central agency suspects that someone from a nearby district, likely from the West Delhi area, may have a role in the incident, a lack of leads means that nothing is established yet.
“We have questioned close to 50 people and reviewed hours of CCTV footage but have found no leads that could assist investigators. Additionally, no connections hinting at a Khalistani role have been established,” a senior official associated with the investigation told.
As intelligence agencies remain clueless about the case, they have not provided any information suggesting the likelihood of such a blast in Delhi. Police are struggling to find a primary lead that could point them in the right direction. The case currently remains with the local police, as no terror angle has been established. However, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is assisting the local police, and if a terror angle is identified, the case will be transferred to them.
A loud explosion was reported near a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) school on the morning of October 20 in the Prashant Vihar area of Delhi’s Rohini. The cause of the explosion is yet to be determined.
Police confirmed that the wall of the school, nearby shops, and a parked car were damaged, and the area has been cordoned off. Fortunately, no one was injured in the explosion.
A bomb squad and police forensic team were immediately dispatched to the scene near the CRPF school to ascertain the cause of the explosion reported at around 7.50 am. Plumes of smoke were seen billowing from the site, and a video purportedly showing the aftermath of the explosion surfaced on social media, displaying thick, white smoke. An NSG team has already visited the site to investigate the explosives used in the incident.
