VASCO: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for development projects worth around Rs 140 crore in Vasco, aimed at improving connectivity, boosting urban infrastructure and creating modern recreational facilities in the port town.
The projects include the upgraded Road Under Bridge (RUB) at Vasco, an Integrated Sports, Recreational and Commercial Facilities Project, and a new Commercial Complex for the Mormugao Municipal Council.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the upgraded RUB would help ease traffic congestion and significantly improve connectivity between Vasco, Dabolim Airport, Margao and other parts of South Goa. He said the project would facilitate safer and smoother movement of buses, emergency services and goods transport vehicles.
Sawant also highlighted the Integrated Sports, Recreational and Commercial Facilities Project, stating that it would provide modern indoor and outdoor sports infrastructure along with fitness centres, recreational spaces, commercial establishments and community facilities for residents, particularly youth.
He further said the proposed commercial complex for the Mormugao Municipal Council would strengthen civic infrastructure, create new business opportunities and contribute to economic growth in Vasco.
The Chief Minister noted that nearly 22 major projects are currently underway in Vasco, adding that the town is steadily transforming into a modern and sustainable urban centre aligned with the vision of Viksit Goa and Viksit Bharat.
