PONDA: Sanatan Sanstha has denied allegations circulating on social media that it had organised a programme featuring Gautam Khattar and has filed a police complaint at the Ponda Police Station against individuals allegedly spreading defamatory and false claims against the organisation.
Addressing the media, Mr. Chetan Rajhans, National Spokesperson of Sanatan Sanstha, stated that attempts were being made over the past few days to create religious tension in Goa in connection with remarks made by Gautam Khattar regarding St. Francis Xavier.
Rajhans alleged that certain anti-social elements were unnecessarily targeting Sanatan Sanstha by linking it to the controversy. He clarified that the programme in question was organised by an organisation named “Sanatan Dharma Raksha Samiti” and not by Sanatan Sanstha.
He further said that dragging the Sanstha into the controversy was a deliberate attempt to tarnish its image. Rajhans also referred to previous court rulings, stating that the Hon’ble High Court had described Sanatan Sanstha as a spiritual organisation and rejected demands for a ban due to lack of evidence.
The spokesperson added that in the Madgaon blast case, all seekers accused in the matter had been acquitted by the court. He also claimed that the Central Government had submitted an affidavit stating there was no evidence against the Sanstha.
Rajhans alleged that defamatory posts and videos targeting Sanatan Sanstha, Hindu Dharma, sages and Hindu deities were being circulated on Facebook and other social media platforms.
The organisation also strongly objected to slogans such as “Viva Goa, Viva Portugal” allegedly raised in one of the videos related to the controversy. Rajhans termed such slogans an insult to Indian sovereignty and accused critics of glorifying a pro-Portuguese mindset.
Sanatan Sanstha stated that if false allegations against the organisation continue, it would initiate strict legal action against those involved. The Sanstha confirmed that a complaint had been filed against Sebi Vas from Goa and others, demanding immediate police action.
