CUNCOLIM: Cuncolim Police have registered a case after a Sarzora woman was allegedly cheated of approximately ₹1.06 lakh by unknown persons who posed as representatives of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and promised her a job.
According to the complaint filed by Fivel Fernandes, the incident took place on June 20, 2026, at around 10 am in Sarzora.
The complainant had reportedly seen a newspaper advertisement inviting applications for various job vacancies. She subsequently provided her email ID and WhatsApp number through the details mentioned in the advertisement.
She later received a phone call from an unknown person who allegedly claimed to be an ONGC representative and made promises of providing her employment.
Believing the representations to be genuine, Fernandes transferred approximately ₹1,06,690 through multiple online transactions to bank accounts allegedly provided by the accused.
Police said the accused persons dishonestly induced the complainant to part with the money, causing her wrongful loss.
