VALPOI: Valpoi Police have registered a case against four teachers and two tour operators in connection with the drowning of a school student during an excursion in Sattari, alleging negligence and lapses in ensuring the safety of students.
According to police, the case pertains to allegations that the students were taken to a wildlife area without obtaining the required permission and were allegedly allowed to enter a waterfall area despite the potential danger.
Police have alleged that the circumstances exposed the students to serious risks during the school-organised excursion.
The two tour operators named in the case have been arrested in connection with the incident. Police are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the excursion and the sequence of events leading to the student’s death.
The investigation is aimed at determining the responsibilities of the teachers and tour operators and establishing whether safety protocols were followed during the trip.
Further investigation is being conducted under the supervision of PI Vidyesh Pilgaonkar of Valpoi Police Station, with overall supervision by SDPO Bicholim Sridevi BV and SP North Harish Madkaikar.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
