PANAJI: In a recent four-day mini-book fair held at the Central Library in Panaji, Goa, a series of engaging seminars and cultural events left a profound impact on the attendees. The event, designed to foster a vibrant reading culture, included multilingual poetry presentations, a personality development camp, and a yoga camp, all aimed at promoting the benefits of reading.
One of the standout seminars, moderated by Dr. Sushant Tandel, the Curator of the Central Library, delved into the numerous advantages of reading books. The panel consisted of esteemed individuals such as Senior Journalist Bhaskar Dattaram Desai, Assistant Forest Range Officer Daksh Phadte, Anchor Pradeep Naik, and teachers Ujwala Potekar and Vaishnavi Potekar, all of whom are avid readers at the library.
During the seminar, panelists shared personal stories and insights about how reading has enriched their lives, helped them overcome challenges, and contributed to their personal growth. They stressed the importance of developing a reading habit to enhance knowledge, intelligence, and overall personality. The audience, largely comprising students, was inspired by motivational quotes from influential figures like Swami Vivekananda, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Lokmanya Tilak, and former President Dr. Abdul Kalam, which were displayed in the hall.
The event served as a powerful call to action, encouraging the audience to integrate reading into their daily lives. By doing so, individuals can gain a deeper understanding of the world, develop critical thinking skills, and become more informed and successful.
The mini-book fair was inaugurated by Minister Govind Gaude and was a significant step towards promoting literacy and a love for reading in the community. The event’s success underscores the importance of such initiatives in fostering a culture of reading and personal development.
