CANACONA: Social worker and youth leader Shubham Komarpant is all set to launch an indefinite agitation demanding the immediate repair of the non-functional lift at the Community Health Centre (CHC), Canacona, which has been causing hardship to more than 120 dialysis patients and their families.
Komarpant, in an intimation submitted to the Deputy Collector, Canacona, on Friday, stated that the lift used by dialysis patients and their families has remained non-functional for nearly six months, despite repeated requests and regular follow-ups with the concerned authorities.
Referring to his earlier letter dated September 5, Komarpant informed the Deputy Collector that he would proceed with the agitation from Monday, October 12, 2026, and continue it indefinitely until the lift is repaired and relief is provided to the affected patients.
“It has been nearly six months since the lift at CHC Canacona, used by dialysis patients and their families, stopped working. The authorities are least bothered despite frequent requests and regular follow-ups. We have no option left but to begin the agitation from Monday,” Komarpant asserted.
The proposed agitation aims to draw the authorities’ attention to the difficulties faced by dialysis patients, many of whom depend on regular visits to the CHC for treatment. Komarpant has demanded the immediate restoration of the lift to ensure that patients and their families are spared further hardship.
