Aam Aadmi Party Goa President Amit Palekar has said that land-grabbing accused Suleman Siddiquie has become an embarrassment to the BJP, and that is why they are harassing him.
“Suleman Siddiquie has become an embarrassment to BJP, and that is why they are harassing me,” Palekar said.
In a latest development in the ongoing investigation into the escape and video release case involving land-grabbing accused Suleman Siddiquie, the Old Goa Police have summoned Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Goa President Amit Palekar for questioning.
This move has been met with strong criticism from Palekar, who alleges that the police are harassing him while ignoring other key figures implicated by Siddiqui.
Palekar, who is set to appear before the Old Goa Police Station on February 21, has received his fourth summons in this case.
He expressed frustration over the repeated summonses, suggesting that the police are more interested in targeting him rather than addressing the serious allegations made by Siddiqui.
“The police are not taking any action against those named by Siddiquie, such as SP, DySP Suraj Halarnkar, and Dy Speaker Joshua D’Souza,” Palekar pointed out.
The summons, issued under subsection (3) of Section 35 BNSS 2023, outlines 11 conditions for Palekar’s cooperation, including the requirement to disclose all relevant facts truthfully and to assist in the apprehension of any accomplices. Palekar has termed these summonses as a form of harassment, questioning the police’s motives.
“For once, arrest me and finish the matter once and for all,” he said, highlighting his dissatisfaction with the ongoing investigation process.
Palekar’s appearance before the police is part of an investigation that has drawn significant attention due to Siddiquie’s allegations of police torture and his dramatic escape from custody. The AAP leader’s comments have added another layer of complexity to the case, suggesting that the BJP is using the police to silence him due to Siddiquie’s embarrassing revelations.
