PANAJI: Mapusa Police have registered a case against six accused and other unknown persons for allegedly forging land documents, impersonating a deceased landlord and fraudulently transferring ownership rights over a property at Pomburpa in Bardez.
The complaint was filed by advocate Gajendranath R. Usgaonkar, a resident of Alto-Porvorim, following which an offence was registered on July 2, 2026.
According to the complaint, the accused — Shantaram Dattaram Dessai, Dattaram Krishnarao Dessai, Kashibai Dattaram Dessai, Ganpat Sonu Parab, Jyoti Ganpat Parab, Chetan Developers and Promoters, along with other unknown persons — allegedly entered into a criminal conspiracy prior to July 12, 2021, to fraudulently acquire rights over a landed property bearing Survey No. 19/1 at Pomburpa, Bardez, admeasuring 1,850 square metres.

The forged documents were allegedly produced before the concerned authorities to facilitate transactions involving the property, enabling the accused to transfer rights in their favour while depriving the lawful legal heirs of their legitimate ownership and interests.
