PANAJI: The Government of Goa has notified “Goa State Mariculture Policy 2020” to carry out Open Sea Cage Fish Culture in the territorial waters of the State of Goa.
Under the centrally sponsored scheme “Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana”, interested applicants can avail of 40% subsidy for General Category and 60% subsidy for SC/ST/Women on the unit cost of Rs. 5.00 lakh per cage, a maximum of 5 cages per individual beneficiary.
In the case of groups of fishers and fish farmers, i.e. fishers SHGs/Joint Liability Groups (JLGs)/Fisher cooperatives etc. or those undertaken in a cluster/area approach, the number of cages for Governmental Assistance will be limited to 2 x numbers of members of such group with a ceiling of 50 cages per group.
