PANAJI: The Goa TMC today filed a formal complaint with the Election Commission against the Aam Aadmi Party and a news channel called Hindi Khabar for the commission of forgery, circulation of a doctored video to defame, including breach of the silent period.
The complaint was filed by Rajya Sabha MP & TMC Goa co-in charge Sushmita Dev and Goa TMC Mahila Wing Vice-President Pratibha Borkar at the Chief Electoral Officer’s office in Panaji late on Saturday night.
Condemning this politically motivated move by the AAP, Sushmita Dev said, ‘The video showing our Benaulim candidate Churchill Alemao is fake. We will prove this with forensic evidence. This is clearly a political conspiracy, and the proof of that is that the Aam Aadmi Party has tweeted this video.’
Questioning the journalist’s credibility who ran the sting, Sushmita Dev said, ‘The journalist who ran this sting himself has a dubious record and is known to be someone who has run fake videos in the past. The fact that the video has now been removed proves that it was fake in the first place.’
Slamming the AAP and BJP for stooping to such low levels, Pratibha Borkar said, ‘We want EC to take the strictest action against AAP and BJP for flouting norms in the silence period. Clearly, both AAP & BJP are rattled by the immense support that our candidate Churchill Alemao is getting on the ground. Both parties are resorting to unscrupulous means to sway the voters. They should know that these cheap tricks won’t work.’z
Goa TMC condemns this highly malicious move by the AAP and BJP to defame our candidate and try and influence the outcome of the elections. Goa TMC further requests the ECI to take the strictest action against all those who have flouted rules during the silence period.
