CANACONA – Keeping the series of mishaps running on the narrow NH-66 road, a Tomato Pick-up from Karnataka on the way to the state capital City fell off the road in the Balli area.
Loaded with the tomatoes consignment at Chikmagalur (Karnataka), the Pickup bearing registration no. KA18 C6998, on reaching the Balli area, fell off the road when the driver strayed a little to the left to avoid an oncoming trolley truck.
The driver (Fayaz Khan), blaming the narrow road, said, “The already narrow road is almost marred with potholes, and to make it worst, there is no space at all across the tar section of the road, and my vehicle fell off when I was forced to slightly steer my wheels to the left to avoid an oncoming trolley, and I couldn’t get the balance and my vehicle plummeted into the roadside gutter/drainage. They need to widen this Highway soon to avoid such Mishaps in future”.
The incident had reportedly happened early Tuesday morning, as early as 3.30 am.
Later, a few of the tomato crates (Boxes) were shifted into a local pickup for onward transportation to Panjim.
