VASCO: Vasco Railway police have arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with a theft reported on board the Velankanni–Vasco Express. The accused, Ambrish Beggar, a resident of Bagalkot, Karnataka, was taken into custody on April 24.
The case was registered following a complaint by Afroza Begum Hukkeri (59), a Vasco resident, who reported that her handbag was stolen while travelling in the general coach between Sanvordem and Chandor in the early hours of April 23.
The stolen items included a Samsung mobile phone and a pair of silver anklets weighing around 250 grams, with a total value of approximately ₹67,000.
Police have registered the offence under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The accused is currently in police custody, and further investigation is underway.
The investigation is being carried out by PSI Krishna Talpi under the supervision of PI Amarnath Passi of Vasco Railway Police Station.
