Canacona: As many as twelve schools from Shristhal village participated in the Bazaar Day organised by the Biodiversity Management Committee (BMC), Shristhal, in association with the Village Panchayat of Shristhal, with support from the Goa State Biodiversity Board and the Department of Environment and Climate Change Panchayat office, on Monday.
The BMC specially organised the “Bazaar Day” for school students from the Shristhal Panchayat area from 8.30 am onwards in front of the panchayat office, with the objective of providing practical exposure and hands-on learning experiences. The initiative also aimed to create awareness among students about environmental conservation and sustainable practices.
The bazaar was inaugurated by Canacona MLA and Minister for Art & Culture, Tribal Welfare, Sports and Youth Affairs, Ramesh Tawadkar. Appreciating the initiative, Tawadkar lauded the Shristhal BMC for organising such an innovative activity and urged them to consider organising a craft bazaar involving students from across Canacona. He also extended his full support for future initiatives.
Among those present were CMC Chairperson Laxuman Pagui, ZP member Ajay Lolienkar (Poinguinim), ADEI Canacona Natasha Guarda, ATMA Agriculture Officer-in-Charge Shivram Naik Gaonkar, ZAO Canacona Mahendra Pagi, senior artist Kamlakar Mhalshi, Swayanvpurna Mitra Vipul Naik Gaonkar, Deputy Sarpanch Poinguinim Sunil Paingankar, former chairperson and councillor Ramakant Naik Gaonkar, Panch Poinguinim Mahesh Naik, and BJP Canacona Mandal President Prabhakar Gaonkar.
BMC Chairperson welcomed the gathering, while Shristhal Sarpanch Sejal Gaonkar addressed the students. Panch members Rajesh Velip, Livia Naik and Nilesh Gaonkar, along with BMC members Tejas Naik Gaonkar, Rajesh Bhandari and Tejas Desai, were present. Panch member Akshada Velip proposed the vote of thanks, and BMC member Shirish Pai compered the programme.
The bazaar witnessed a large turnout, with people visiting in significant numbers from across the taluka, making the event a grand success.
