PANAJI/MARGAO: Police have registered two separate narcotics cases in North and South Goa, with suspected Ecstasy, MDMA and ganja seized during raids conducted in Calangute and Cuncolim.
In North Goa, Calangute Police conducted a narcotics raid in the early hours of August 11 near the HP Gas Godown at Naikawaddo, Calangute.
According to the state complaint lodged by PSI Vishwajit Dhavalikar, the raid was conducted between 1.08 am and 3.15 am. During the operation, Akshay Vaghe, 31, a resident of Porbavaddo, Calangute, was allegedly found in possession of two substances suspected to be narcotics.
Police seized a bluish-coloured powder suspected to be Ecstasy, weighing 5.31 grams and valued at approximately ₹53,000, along with 1.64 grams of a white crystalline substance suspected to be MDMA, valued at around ₹16,000.
The substances were seized under a search and seizure panchanama. Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Vishwajit Dhavalikar of Calangute Police Station.
In South Goa, Cuncolim Police also registered a narcotics case following a raid at Kaknamoddi, Cuncolim, on August 10.
According to the state complaint filed by PSI Sahil Pagui of Cuncolim Police Station, the operation was conducted between 7.40 pm and 9.10 pm, during which Delvin Joshua Pereira, a resident of Chinchinim, Salcete, was allegedly caught with a leafy and flowering substance suspected to be ganja.
Police seized approximately 370 grams of the suspected ganja, valued at around ₹35,000.
Further investigation in the Cuncolim case is being conducted by PSI Kishor Velip of Cuncolim Police Station.
