Panaji: Drishti Marine lifesavers rescued two persons from drowning, traced four missing children and attended to a medical emergency involving a minor girl injured by broken glass during multiple incidents reported across Goa’s beaches over the weekend.
At Baga Beach, Drishti Marine lifesavers, along with Goa Beach Police, traced a 12 year old boy from Maharashtra who had reportedly gone missing after beach closing hours. The child was later located along the beach stretch and reunited with his parents following identification formalities in the presence of police personnel. The search operation involved lifesavers Saurabh Kumar, Sandesh Paryekar, Ridresh Mahale and Vinay Sawal.
At Miramar Beach, lifesavers assisted an unidentified man who was found lying in a semi conscious state near the water’s edge. The man, who appeared to be intoxicated, was located around eight to 10 metres above the waterline. Lifesavers Dhanraj Tikkam and Ramesh Bhomkar assessed the individual and found his pulse and breathing stable before alerting the 108 ambulance service. The man was later handed over to the medical response team.
At Hollant Beach, a 10 year old girl from Goa sustained a deep cut to her foot while walking on rocks along the shoreline. Drishti Marine lifesavers administered first aid at the site before the child was shifted through the 108 ambulance service for further treatment.
At Colva Beach, a nine year old child from Hyderabad who was reported missing was traced by lifesavers after a search operation. The child was later reunited with a relative after completion of formalities. In another incident at the same beach, a six year old boy from Ponda was found alone near the garden area and was subsequently reunited with his mother by the lifesaver team.
At Benaulim Beach, an 11 year old girl from Belgaum who had become separated from her family was traced and safely handed over to her aunt after identification procedures.
In a separate incident at Benaulim, Drishti Marine lifesavers rescued a 34 year old tourist from Pune who got into distress while swimming with a group. According to officials, the man was struck by a strong wave and pulled by retreating waters, causing panic. Lifesaver Sudarshan spotted the incident and rescued the man using a rescue board. The tourist was reported to be stable following the rescue.
