PANAJI: The Unique Identification Authority of India has advised residents to update their Aadhaar supporting documents by submitting Proof of Identity and Proof of Address after completion of 10 years from the date of enrolment.
According to UIDAI, keeping Aadhaar details updated helps ensure ease of living, better service delivery, accurate authentication and continued accuracy of information in the Aadhaar database.
Aadhaar is a unique 12-digit identification number issued to residents and is mandatory for availing several Government subsidies, benefits and services where Aadhaar authentication is required.
The Aadhaar update service can be availed at Aadhaar Centres on payment of a fee of Rs. 75 approved by UIDAI. However, to encourage residents to update their documents, UIDAI has extended the free online document update facility through the [myAadhaar portal](https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/?utm_source=chatgpt.com) till June 14, 2027.
While Aadhaar document update is not mandatory, UIDAI stated that it is a preferred process to ensure Aadhaar records remain updated and accurate.
